Congratulations to Karsten Holman, Duke’s Ukes Champion!

We are incredibly proud to congratulate Karsten Holman on winning first place at today’s Duke’s Ukes Contest!

Karsten performed a medley of songs by The Beatles, which was the perfect choice for him—they are his favorite band. His performance allowed him to showcase both his musical ability and his genuine love for their music.

Before becoming my student, Karsten had already discovered that he has perfect pitch. During his three years at Kapena School of Music, it has been a joy to watch him continue developing his talent, musicianship, and confidence. He is currently a member of our Elite Class, where he continues to challenge himself and grow as a musician.

Karsten is also the first Kapena School of Music student to win a trophy at this prestigious annual event. Given the reputation and high level of competition associated with Duke’s Ukes, this is a particularly meaningful achievement for Karsten and a proud milestone for our school.

Karsten is our second contest champion this year. His fellow Elite Class member Josh Purdy won first place in the HIʻs Finest ʻUkulele Contest earlier this year.

Congratulations, Karsten, on this well-deserved achievement! We are tremendously proud of you, and your entire Kapena School of Music ʻohana is celebrating with you! 🎉🏆🎶
