Congratulations Kyler!

Huge congratulations to Kyler Harrington for winning the Kris Fuchigami ʻUkulele Contest this year! Kyler has been studying with me for a few years now, and his quest has always been to take first in a contest. His passion, persistence, and love for the ʻukulele brought him to this moment — and we couldn’t be prouder.

At the contest, Kyler performed an intricate picking arrangement of “Speak Softly, Love” (Love Theme from The Godfather), showcasing both his technical skill and musical sensitivity. It was a beautiful, heartfelt performance that truly captured the audience and judges alike.

Stay tuned — Kyler has already told me he’s still hungry and wants to get even better!

I also want to recognize the other amazing students who made the finals this year — Kekanumai and Karsten for the Duke’s Ukes Contest, and Riley, Bradly, and Naupaka for the Kris Fuchigami ʻUkulele Contest.

Kekanumai, Karsten, and Naupaka are students at the Kapena School of Music, while Riley, Bradly, and Kyler are part of our Four Strings ʻUkulele Studio ʻohana. Each of you brought your own unique energy, skill, and aloha spirit to the stage.
